Tamarama set by Swim style patterns

It's no secret I love this pattern! The two piece trend has been huge for a while now, and I can see why. Easy to wear, comfortable and stylish. The Tamarama set is a great pattern to lean in to this trend.

I've made several sets, in linen, cotton and silk. All work well, but linen has to be my favourite base cloth for this style.

This Liberty silk version has to be one of my most worn makes. It layers well so is great in all weather. Light as a feather, it's perfect for hot days and ideal for travelling.

This Liberty silk print currently in store is my top pick

I you've never sewn a shirt before this is a great pattern to start with. It has a simple two part collar, a back yoke and drop shoulder. The construction is straight forward and is coupled with detailed, clear instructions, making it an enjoyable sew.

I recently spoke with the lovely Mother and Daughter duo behind swim style patterns about my own journey as a Mother and a maker. You can read the interview over on their blog here

Have you sewn the Tamarama set?

  • Yes. love it!

  • No, but I'm dying to try it

  • Not my style

Linen is a great base cloth for this set and we have some great colours in store. Even though the weather is cooling down, it's still a great fabric to layer so you can get year round wear from your two piece set.

Check out our current linen collection here

My top pick is this Stunning emerald green

I hope this has inspired you to give sewing your own two piece set a go, or maybe trying out shirt making for the first time. It can seem daunting, but with a well put together pattern and instructions you'll be conquering shirt making in no time!

Until next time, happy sewing

Julia x
